Evil Dead. Horror remake starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Lou Taylor Pucci. Four friends decamp to an isolated cabin in the woods to help drug addict Mia kick her habit. However, when one of them quotes from an ancient book of the dead, the forces of hell are unleashed and no one is safe.

Interview with the Vampire. Horror based on the novel by Anne Rice, starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas. Present-day San Francisco: while being interviewed by journalist Daniel Malloy, vampire Louis tells of his life as a plantation owner in the 18th century, when, falling into depression after his wife and child die, he meets vampire Lestat who offers him the chance of eternal life.

Moonshot. A laid-back barista named Walt sneaks on board a space shuttle to a colonised Mars. He teams up with Sophie, a no-nonsense college student going to Mars to see her boyfriend, to make it onto the Red Planet without getting caught. Romantic sci-fi comedy, starring Lana Condor, Cole Sprouse and Zach Braff.

The Host. Sci-fi thriller based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer, starring Saoirse Ronan. The future of mankind lies with a young girl called Melanie after she appears to be the only person able to offer any resistance when the bodies of humans are invaded by parasitic aliens.

The Matrix Resurrections. To find out if his reality is a physical or mental construct, Mr Anderson - aka Neo - has to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. Neo already knows what he has to do, but what he doesn't yet know is that the Matrix is stronger, more secure and far more dangerous than ever before. Sci-fi sequel, starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Elysium. Sci-fi drama starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. In the year 2154, the wealthy elite live on a utopian space station called Elysium while the rest of the population are trapped on a ruined and polluted Earth. A dying man named Max agrees to take on a mission that could bring equality to the different worlds.

Voyagers. Thirty young men and women are sent deep into space on a multi-generational mission in search of a new home. The mission descends into madness, as the crew reverts to its most primal state, not knowing if the real threat they face is what's outside the ship or who they're becoming inside it. Sci-fi thriller, starring Colin Farrell, Tye Sheridan and Lily-Rose Depp.

Paycheck. Sci-fi action thriller directed by John Woo and based on a short story by Philip K Dick, starring Ben Affleck, Aaron Eckhart and Uma Thurman. Computer genius Michael Jennings undertakes the last in a series of lucrative, top-secret corporate projects that require his memory to be wiped on completion. Emerging with no recollection of the past three years, he's baffled to discover he's forfeited his pay in favour of an envelope of apparently worthless items. To make matters worse, his previous employers are intent on killing him.

After Earth. Sci-fi adventure starring Will Smith and son Jaden Smith as father and son astronauts who crash land on Earth which has been abandoned for a millennium. Together they face a perilous journey to signal for help on Earth's hostile surface.

Interstellar. Sci-fi adventure starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. In the mid-21st century, Earth is running out of resources, and humanity is dying. Desperate, former Nasa pilot Cooper comes out of retirement to helm a mission to enter a wormhole and attempt to find a habitable planet to which the population can relocate.
